January 6, 2021 BOARD MEETING NOTES
ZOOM VIDEO MEETING CALLED TO ORDER: 1800
MEMBERS PRESENT: Bill Knepper, Don Lockridge, John Campeau, Cheryl Freese, John Ellingson, Jim Pace, and Kevin Rasku.

DECEMBER MINUTES: The December board meeting minutes were not presented for approval.
FINANCIAL REPORT: The bank account balance on December 1 was $8,003.95 and on December 31 was $7,991.46.
REPEATER COORDINATION: Eugene O'Neill is preparing the Western Washington Amateur Relay Association applications to renewal the coordination for the Baw Faw and the Penning Hill repeaters. Eugene will be the Coordination Holder (Trustee) and James Van Ornum the Alternate Contact for the Baw Faw repeater. Dick Morrison will be the Coordination Holder (Trustee) and James Van Ornum the Alternate Contact for the Penning Hill repeater. Copies of the applications and the Certificates of Coordination should be put in the CVARS President's Notebook.
CVARS INCOMING MAIL: James Van Ornum picks up the CVARS mail from the mail box at the Chehalis Post Office. Much of the mail is checks for CVARS dues and donations. Bill Knepper suggested that James deliver the mail to the Mount View Baptist Church where it can be held for Cheryl Freese.
LIABILITY INSURANCE: The club liability insurance is currently underwritten by Mercer and expires March 22, 2021. The ARRL currently has an agreement with Risk Strategies for club insurance. John Campeau moved and John Ellingson seconded that the club apply to Risk Strategies for insurance starting March 22, 2021. Motion passed. Bill Knepper asked John Campeau to apply for the Risk Strategies policy. Jim Pace said Diane Middleton (dmiddleton@arrl.org) is the ARRL Headquarters contact for liability insurance.
REPEATER SITE LEASE/DONATION: Bill Knepper reminded the board that the Weyerhaeuser lease for the Baw Faw site was $900 last year and the donation to Gerald Fischer for the Penning Hill site was $150. Kevin Rasku moved and John Ellingson seconded the the lease and donation be renewed for 2021. Motion passed.
SPECIAL SERVICE CLUB: Bill Knepper reported the CVARS Special service Club status has expired and needs to be renewed. He asked Cheryl Freese to submit the renewal application found at http://www.arrl.org/ssc-application
CVARS.ORG WEBSITE: James Van Ornum reminded the board of the information available at the website.
NEW HAMS: Jim Pace raised the need to have a handout at the ham testing sessions to welcome the new hams and highlight ham opportunities in the area. He also wondered if the "get one year free with the first year's dues payment" should be reviewed. Bill Knepper appointed Don Lockridge to follow through on this.
K7PG: Bill Harwell asked if the board wanted to keep WA7UHD as a club call sign as well as K7PG. There was not a strong preference one way or the other.

The January 6, 2021 ZOOM Video General Meeting was called to order by Bill Knepper at 7:04 PM.

ANNOUNCEMENTS:
PROGRAM: "Ask Dave Episode 8: Station Grounding," available at https://dcasler.com/2015/09/05/ask-dave-episode-8-station-grounding/ was played. The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) has a website at https://www.nfpa.org/NEC/About-the-NEC/Grounding-and-bonding that addresses grounding and bonding electrical systems. The Motorola "Standards and Guidelines for Communication Sites" document is available at http://www.repeater-builder.com/antenna/site-stuff/are-fifty-six-man-2005.pdf  An open discussion about station grounding followed the video.

The meeting adjourned at 8:05 PM. There were at least 22 people attending.
