November 6, 2019 BOARD MEETING NOTES
MEETING CALLED TO ORDER: 1833 by Bill Harwell.

MEMBERS PRESENT: Bill Harwell, Chuck Verdon, Paul Van Dyck, Bill Knepper, John Ellingson and Jim Pace.

October MINUTES: Approved.

FINANCIAL REPORT: Bank Balance: $8,701.86 DOMAIN NAME: James Van Ornum submitted a $16.95 invoice from Simply Hosting to renew the domain name for one year (12/09/2019 - 12/08/2020). He was reimbursed.

MARVIN HANELY (N6XML): It was announced that Marvin, a CVARS member, died October 19, 2019, at Providence Mother Joseph Care Center in Olympia.. A memorial service will be held 11:00 AM, Saturday, November 9, 2019, at the Mountain View Baptist Church, 1201 Belmont Avenue, Centralia.

SWAPMEET: John Ellingson reported that July 25, 2020 has been reserved with Southwest Washington Fairgrounds for the swapmeet. We still need to leave a $300 damage deposit with them.

CVARS JANUARY MEETING: James Van Ornum reported that the first Wednesday in January 2020 is January 1 (New Years Day). The second Wednesday is reserved for the Chehalis Steam Train group. The Board agreed to have the January meeting on the 1st.

SPEAKER GRATUITY: Chuck Verdon requested the club give Brad Estill (N7ER) $35 towards his transportation costs between Clinton, WA and Chehalis. It was approved.

CHRISTMAS POTLUCK: Paul Van Dyck volunteered to provide background music. The board agreed the club will provide ham and turkey. Club members at the general meeting will be polled about including a gift exchange.

WINTER FIELD DAY: Bill Harwell suggested we participate in the Winter Field Day January 25-26, 2020, and the board agreed. The board agreed to upgrade the N3FJP contest log software license to include all contests, a $49.99 package when downloaded direct from the web site. James Van Ornum will check with the Lewis County Fire District #6 commissioners on the availability of Logan Hill station #63.

VE COORDINATOR: Jim Pace reminded the board that amateur radio license testing is a service provided by CVARS and the VE Coordinator position should be managed by the board. Jim volunteered to be the interim coordinator following the resignation of Dick Morrison. The file box with forms, tests, scoring templates, etc was passed on to Jim.

TECHNICIAN CLASS Jim Pace announced that he is starting a Technician class this Saturday, November 9, at 2:00 PM at Immanuel Luthern Church, 1209 Scheuber Road North, Centralia. He plans to not use a book and expects there will be 6 sessiions.


November 6, 2019 PROGRAM NOTES
The November 6, 2019 General Meeting was called to order by Bill Harwell at 7:33 PM with the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag followed by people introducing themselves with their name, call sign, home town and "favorite Thanksgiving dinner side dish or dessert." The attendance signin sheets were passed around.

The board proposed slate for the positions of President (Bill Harwell), Vice-President (Chuch Verdon), Secretary (Paul Van Dyck), At-Large-2 (Jim Pace) and At-Large-3 (Kevin Rasky) was presented. Nominations from the floor were opened and none offered. The board proposed slate was approved by the members present.

Leads and Needs was described and the opportunity to respond was provided.

The November calendar, which is available at, was presented. The Christmas Potluck Dinner on December 4 was highlighted. Setup will start at 5:30 PM, Social time at 6:00 PM, Sit down to eat at 6:30 PM. Club will provide ham and turkey. Paper plates and plastic silverware will be available, or bring your own. For those who want to play, the exchange gift should be between $15 and $20. There will be a CVARS meeting on January 1, 2020. We are planning to participate inWinter Field DayJanuary 25-26, 2020.
