July 3, 2019 BOARD MEETING NOTES
MEETING CALLED TO ORDER: 1831 by Bill Harwell.
MEMBERS PRESENT:
Bill Harwell, Chuck Verdon, Paul Van Dyck, Bill Knepper, John Ellingson, Jim Pace
and Kevin Rasku.
June MINUTES:
Approved as corrected.
FINANCIAL REPORT: Bank Balance: $6,411.79
Everyone who ordered a Field Day 2019 T-shirt paid. The $20 per shirt we charged covered the $17.95 cost of the shirt plus all but between $3 and $4
of the shipping cost.
SWAPMEET:
John was authorized to spend up to $400 for door prizes.
It was suggested he consider an Icom IC-2730A VHF/UHF, 50-watt, FM,
mobil transceiver as the primary prize.
FIELD DAY:
Chuck summarized a successful event. We did not activate a GOTA station.
SUNSHINE NEED:
Chuck reported that Marvin Hanely, N6XML, is back at St. Peter's Hospital,
Room 930, Olympia with his cancer spreading. Is was requested that the
sunshine lady (April Van Dyck) send a card to Marvin.
LEADS AND NEEDS:
Bill had received several items and displayed a rotating slide show
of these items before the General Meeting started.

July 3, 2019 PROGRAM NOTES
The July 3, 2019 General Meeting was called to order by Bill Harwell at
7:30 PM with the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag followed by
people introducing themselves with their name, call sign, home town,
and most memorable 4th of July.
The attendance signin,
and CVARS Sunday Net Controller sheets were passed around.
A request was made for someone to work with Rob Majoros
for meeting refreshments.
The July calendar,
which is available at http://cvars.org/, was presented.
During the "Leads & Needs" time, 7 people expressed an interest
in an Extra Class License class. James Van Ornum has their names and email
addresses and will follow up on the request.
The Field Day experience was discussed.
John Ellingson reminded us of his "After The Swap Picnic"
at 18140 Mi Lane, Rochester on Saturday, July 20, 2019.
He had Swapmeet signs and asked that people take the signs and place them
the Wednesday before the meet.
We will presetup at 5:30 PM the Friday before the meet. Volunteer workers are needed at the swapmeet at 7:30 AM on Saturday. The parking lot
gate will let buyers and sellers in starting at 8 AM.
Chuck Verdon, W5KAV, gave the main presentation on "Ham Antennas".
He summarized several types of antennas used by hams such as Marconi,
End Fed, Windom, Multiband Dipole, G5RV, Horizontal Loop, Rhombic,
Log Periodic and Broad Band Doublet.
The meeting adjourned at 9:20 PM.
There were 26 people registering their attendance on the attendance sheet.
