January 2, 2019 BOARD MEETING NOTES
MEMBERS PRESENT:
Bill Harwell, Chuck Verdon, Bill Knepper, John Ellingson, Jim Pace and Kevin Rasku.

CALL TO ORDER:
The meeting was called to order by the President at 18:33.

FINANCIAL REPORT:
1. Bill submitted the following account summary:
  — CVARS Account Balance:              $7,493.83
2. The Baw Faw account has been closed and the assets transferred to the CVARS account.
3. Jim Pace moved and Chuck Verdon seconded that the President (currently Bill Harwell, AC7SR) and the Treasurer (currently Bill Knepper, N7GWK) each be able to sign CVARS checks. The board unanimously approved.

CORRESPONDENCE:
1. Letter 12/05/2018 to Chief Tim Kinder, Lewis County Fire District #6, requesting 2019 use of the training room monthly on the first Wednsedays for the CVARS general meeting and monthly on the last Thursdays January through November (with October being the third Thursday bacause of Thanksgiving) for the Electronics Workshop.
2. Letter 12/26/2018 to Chief Tim Kinder, Lewis County Fire District #6, requesting use of Station 63 on Logan Hill on January 26 and 27 for Winter Field Day.
3. Envelope from Weyerhaeuser received 01/02/2019.

OLD BUSINESS:
1. 501(c)(3): Bill Knepper submitted the application in December. Filing fee was $275.
2. Swap Meet: John Ellingson is still negotiating with the Southwest Washington Fairgrounds for a date -. either July 20 or July 28. They still have our $300 damage deposit from 2018.

NEW BUSINESS:
1. Fire Dogs: Jim Pace moved and Chuck Verdon seconded that we donate $200 to the Lewis County Fire District #6 Fire Dogs in appreciation of being able to meet in the training room.
2. Penning Hill Repeater: Chuck Verdon moved and Jim Pace seconded that we donate $150 to Mary and Gerald Fischer in appreciation of their hosting the Penning Hill repeater.
3. Hamshack Hotline: Bill Knepper introducted the board to Hamshack Hotline which provides Radio Amateurs with a VOIP telecom service using telephones like the Cisco 504G. Additional nformation is onhttps://hamshackhotline.com

The board meeting was adjourned at 19:03.

January 2, 2019 PROGRAM NOTES
The January 2, 2019 general meeting was called to order by Bill Harwell at 7:30 PM with the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag followed by people introducing themselves. The attendance signin and CVARS Sunday Net Controller sheets were passed around.

The January calendar, which is available at http://cvars.org/, was presented.
Bill Harwell announced the Winter Field Day - a 24-hour operating event being held on January 26-27. We have permission to operate at Lewis County Fire District #6 Station 63 at 736 Logan Hill Road, Chehalis. See:https://www.winterfieldday.com/ for more information.

Scott Dakers, W7SGD, introduced Winlink Radio Email, which is another tool that Amateur Radio operators bring to emergency operations. Equipment is basically a transceiver, a TNC and a computer. The TNC could be a hardware unit, like thehttps://kantronics.com/ KPC-3+, or a computer program, like thehttp://uz7.ho.ua/ combined with a sound card, like thehttp://www.tigertronics.com/ SignaLink. The mail app, Winlink Express, can be downloaded from:https://www.winlink.org/ClientSoftware 

The meeting wraped up with a drawing for the ARRL book "Magic Band Antennas for Ham Radio" and for the 50/50.

The meeting adjourned at 8:50 PM. There were 27 people registering their attendance on the attendance sheet.
