The August 5, 2015 board meeting was called to order by Linc Haymaker at 1844. Board members present were Linc Haymaker, Eugene O’Neill, James Van Ornum, Teresa Haymaker, Reita Campbell and John Ellingson.

Treasurer’s report:      CVARS balance is $ 5,812.86, an increase of $ 1,003.04 from last month.

The CVARS Swapmeet netted $ 592.84 plus $ 54.22 from refreshments.

Baw Faw balance is $ 4,462.61, an increase of $ 576.00 from last month.

This includes a $ 500 donation for equipment and $ 56 donated at the swapmeet.

Barbara Southern submitted a $ 25 printing bill for cards she used to solicit donations for the swapmeet. Eugene moved that we reimburse Barbara the $ 25, James seconded, unanimously approved.

Linc submitted the following detailed list of the Baw Faw repeater status:

1.       Controller code input errors repaired.

2.       Repeater set back to CTCSS decode on.

3.       Ground loop problem – ground between controller and repeater. Need to check ground wire in connector cable.

4.       Mike Payne has VHF collinear antenna for receive – donation.

5.       Scott Mattoon has 220 control receiver for check-out of sensitivity. Control receiver was received from N7PRJ as it needed work. Not sure how long it has been down from the hill.

6.       N1BAC is supposed to donate a 450 radio to replace the 220 receiver. No word on when.

7.       Received $ 500 donation for a new Baw Faw repeater (DR-1). DR-1 not feasible for a mountain top system – N1BEC.

8.       Contributor agreed to let CVARS Board decide best place for donation.

9.       Picked up new set of keys (2) from Weyerhaeuser in Pe El for Baw Faw gate – thanks to AC7UP for setup. Gave AC7UP one of the keys.

10.   Gil Elder, N7PRJ, is supposed to have the digital voice recorder (DVR) that was not working, but was supposed to be fixed. He is still looking for it. It is on the equipment list transferred from the Baw Faw Repeater Group. It appears that it has not been on the controller for a number of years. Price estimate to replace is around $ 200.

11.   Repeater shed needs a new paint job.

12.   Repeater shed needs a new outside sign to meet FCC requirements.

Notes:  Repeater – VXR-5000 requires a Microsoft DOS program to change frequency and CTCSS.

Controller – RLC2 requires a terminal program to talk with. Difficult to see what is going on.

Several of us helped at the Centralia Summerfest on July 4. The morning was in Borst park and the afternoon was on the parade route downtown. It was an good opportunity to tell the public about amateur radio.

The CVARS 17th Annual Swapmeet was on Saturday, July 25. It was agreed to raise the admission to $ 5 for buyers. The seller and table prices are to remain at $ 10 and $ 5. There was confusion this year about including 1 raffle ticket with each admission. It was suggested that we might not want to have so many raffle bags, to raise the quality of the raffle prizes and to have a name brand transceiver as a grand prize. There should be a sign for general parking so people don’t park so far away from the livestock barn. Also there should be a sign for the entrance to be put up at 11 AM for free buyer admission.

April’s “Electronics Workshops” interest survey results and current planning is posted on the website. The first meeting will be Thursday, September 24 at 7 PM at 843 SW 21st St in Chehalis. Topic will be Ohm’s Law, AC voltages, LEDs and a simple device curve tracer. More details will be available at the September CVARS meeting.

Reita and Jim Campbell submitted their resignation from the refreshments committee effective the end of December 2015.

The board meeting was adjourned at 1915 by Linc Haymaker.
