The April 1, 2015 board meeting was called to order by Linc Haymaker at 1847. Board members present were Linc Haymaker, Eugene O’Neill, James Van Ornum, Teresa Haymaker, Reita Campbell, and Don McDougall.

The Baw Faw repeater receiver, transmitter and controller were replaced on Saturday, March 28, with a temporary repeater on loan from Tom Herman. Mike Payne is going to troubleshoot the controller which is not accepting over the air commands. The receiver and transmitter need to be checked and possibly retuned by someone with the right test equipment.

The Lewis County Historic Bike Ride, sponsored by the Chehalis-Centralia Optimist Club, is on Saturday, May 9. CVARS volunteers provide communications between Stan Headwall park and the refreshment stops and SAG wagons patrolling the 4 routes. Bill Harwell is the liaison between CVARS and the Optimist Club.

ARRL Field Day activities are Friday to Sunday, June 26 to 28. Chuck Verdon is coordinating the Centralia ARES and CVARS volunteers.

The CVARS Post Office Box service fee statement was received on April 1. Payment of $6 for 6 months or $92 for 12 months is due by April 30. Eugene moved that we pay the annual fee. Don seconded the motion. The motion was approved by all board members present.

James presented a survey to gauge the interest of the membership in holding “Electronics Workshops,” combining theory with related, practical hand-on bench work. The board supported presenting the survey to the CVARS members for their input.

Rita said the refreshments donations are falling short of the expenses. The board agreed to remind the CVARS members that the refreshments are not free.

Rita asked about the status of the Sunshine Committee. Barbara Southern had volunteered to lead it and will follow up on Jeff Mayfield’s wife who went in the hospital for surgery earlier this week.

Teresa reported a balance of $5,147.58 in the CVARS checking account at Security State Bank as of April 1, 2015. There is $3,851.61 in the Baw Faw account. As of April 1, the Baw Faw donations totaled $372 and the site lease expense was $850. When the repeater controller is fixed, an announcement about donations will be put on it. We need to have a Baw Faw presence at the CVARS Swapmeet and to give the Baw Faw Repeater web site an appearance different from the CVARS web site. James will work on the web site.

The board meeting was adjourned at 1912 by Linc Haymaker.

The April 1, 2015 general meeting was called to order by Linc Haymaker at 1930 with the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag followed by people introducing themselves. The attendance sheets and CVARS Sunday 8PM Net Controller sheet were passed around.

Members present were reminded that CVARS membership dues are collected at the beginning of each calendar year and that the Baw Faw Repeater maintenance is supported by yearly donations, not by the CVARS general fund. An abbreviated version of the April, May and June ham calendar found at was shown, along with highlights of the April Digital Radio Workshop.

The idea of an ongoing Electronics Workshop was presented and the interest survey was distributed to the members.

The speaker for the evening was Loren Moline, WA7SKT. Loren spoke on “The Radio Amateur Radio Station – Build or Buy!” He pointed out “Build Your Own Transistor Radios,” by Ronald Quan, as an interesting book with theory and hands on build projects.

The meeting was adjourned at 2100 after the 50/50 drawing. There were 29 people registering their attendance on the attendance sheets.
