CVARS WA7UHD Sunday Night Net Controller Schedule


The CVARS WA7UHD Net meets Sunday at 8 PM local time on 145.430 MHz –offset, 110.9 Hz tone. Net controllers are:

The August 6, 2014 board meeting was called to order by President Chuck Verdon at 6:48 PM. Present were Chuck Verdon, Linc Haymaker, James Van Ornum, John Ellingson, Reita Campbell, Teresa Haymaker and Don McDougall.


Linc reported that the new repeater has been installed. On August 1, the coaxial feedline was replaced with hardline.


John reported that the swapmeet brought in $850 after paying for the door prizes and the building rental.


The board meeting adjourned at 7:23 PM.


Chuck called the general meeting to order at 7:33 PM with the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag followed by people introducing themselves. The attendance sheets and CVARS Sunday 8PM Net Controller sheet were passed around.


Announcements included:

·         Field Day was a success, with a lot of people contributing time, energy and food. Some of the pictures taken by Teresa Haymaker and Ethan were shown. Linc reported that we worked all USA ARRL sections except for Delaware and Eastern New York.

·         Swapmeet Saturday, July 26. Setup at 5:30 PM, Friday July 25. Be there at 7:30 AM Saturday to manage the crowds who may arrive early. Amateur license testing to begin at 11 AM at the Twin Cities Senior Center next door to the fairgrounds..


John Ellingson summarized this year’s swapmeet and picnic the followed.


Jim Pace presented information about the US Congress HR 4969 Amateur Radio Parity Act of 2014 to direct the FCC to extend the "reasonable accommodation" provisions for Amateur Radio antennas to include all types of land-use regulation, including deed restrictions and restrictive covenants. He had handouts that included talking points about the bill and a sample letter to write to our representatives to signon to sponsor the bill.


James Van Ornum presented an introduction to Software Defined Radios, including the inexpensive, repurposed NooElec NESDR Mini SDR & DVB-T USB European TV dongle. The meeting adjourned at 8:54 PM after drawing for 50/50. There were 22 people registering their attendance on the attendance sheets.
