The June 4, 2014 board meeting was called to order by President Chuck Verdon at 6:58 PM. Present were Chuck Verdon, Linc Haymaker, James Van Ornum, John Ellingson, Reita Campbell, Teresa Haymaker and Don McDougall.

New receive and transmit crystals were received for the replacement CVARS repeater, but the unit could not be tuned for our repeater frequency (145.430 MHz receive, 144.830 MHz transmit). It was proposed that we buy a Kenwood TKR750 for $575, an Arcom controller for $200, and a rack mounting kit for the controller for $65 from Arcom in Aurora, Oregon. John reported that we about $5,500 in the club account. The board approved the purchase of the repeater system.

Planning continues for this year’s Field Day on June 27 to 29. We will start setting up the site at about 5 PM Friday evening, June 27.

Planning continues for the Swapmeet on July 26. We will start setting up the site at 5:30 PM Friday evening, July 25. It was noted that the license testing is at 11 AM, not 10:30 AM. The Fairgrounds has asked that the following wording be included on the Certificate of Insurance:

“The Southwest Washington Fair, Lewis County, its officers, directors, agents and employees shall be additional insured.”

James will check with our liability insurer about this wording.

The CVARS constitution has been posted on the web site. This version of the constitution is on file with the Washington State Secretary of State. CVARS does not have 501(c)(3) status as a non-profit. There is a $400 filing fee to apply for 501(c)(3) status. The advantage would be that donations to CVARS could be deducted on giver’s federal tax returns. The disadvantage would be that CVARS would need to file yearly income tax returns.

The board meeting adjourned at 7:25 PM.

Chuck called the general meeting to order at 7:30 PM with the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag followed by people introducing themselves. The attendance sheets and CVARS Sunday 8PM Net Controller sheet were passed around.

Announcements included:

·         Field Day Friday to Sunday, June 27 to 29. We will join with the Centralia ARES group and setup at Ft. Borst Park in Centralia. Setup starting at 5 PM, Friday, June 27.

·         Swapmeet Saturday, July 26. Setup at 5:30 PM, Friday July 25. Amateur license testing to begin at 11 AM, not 10:30 AM.

Bob Willey presented the program about the Centralia ARES group.

The meeting adjourned at 8:30 PM after drawing for 50/50. There were 30 people registering their attendance on the attendance sheets.
