6.       James highlighted the club business to be done during the next 3 months:
October – board nominations,
November – board election,
December – pot luck dinner.

James opened the program with a video clip from episode 14 of “Ham Nation,” a podcast on the “network.” The clip showed Leo Laporte with Gordon West and Bob Heil building a 10-meter dipole with speaker cord.

This was followed by a discussion of antenna fundamentals – conversion of frequency to wavelength. The experience of building a simple 2-meter ground plane antenna (ref: “Simple and Fun Antennas for Hams”) based on a SO-239 chassis connector was related, along with building a quick 2-meter antenna with a length of RG-58U coaxial cable.

The program wrapped up with a 5 element 2-meter cubical quad antenna. “All about Cubical Quad Antennas,” by William Orr and Stuart Cowan, is a reference.

The general meeting adjourned and 8:40 PM. 18 people attended.

I enjoy presenting topics that I find interesting. I like the sense of discovery as I research my library and the internet and pull together PowerPoint®slides to support the presentation. I encourage you to join in the fun and to volunteer to present a ham related topic to the group.
