About 34 CVARS members, family and friends gathered at the Lewis County Fire District #6 building on Jackson Highway to celebrate the season. Dick Morrison opened the evening with prayer and then we enjoyed a delicious meal with turkey, ham and too many other dishes to list here. James Van Ornum recognized the 2010 officers and special volunteers with Certificates of Appreciation and introduced the 2011 officers. Bill Harwell presented a very nice photographic review of CVARS in 2010. Linda Morrison coordinated the gift exchange. Pictures from the meeting will be posted on the CVARS web site

Thank you to everyone who attended, brought food to share, set up and decorated the meeting room, wore antlers, and participated in the gift exchange. And a special thank you to all who stayed to help pick up and restore the meeting room to its initial configuration!

I am looking forward to working with the other elected officers, the activity volunteers and you members to keep CVARS vibrant through 2011. We all have many choices for spending our leisure time and I hope you choose to spend some of that time with CVARS.

NEWSLETTERS - I like to keep the newsletter as simple text that can easily be sent by email and read by those with slow internet connections. I like to put pictures and "fancy" stuff on the web site. Let me know if you feel called to work on the newsletter or the web site. Also let me know if you would like to learn about maintaining the web site.

OFFICERS - The club officers were elected by you to represent you when deciding how to run the club. Please talk with them about what you expect from the club and what you think should be changed or kept as is.

FIELD DAY - There is some talk about combining the CVARS team with the Centralia EOC team for 2011. This is still very  preliminary, but let our officers know your reaction to this idea.

MEETING TOPICS - Jeff Mayfield is responsible for setting up the meeting programs. We hope to have some hands-on activities like putting a connector on a piece of coaxial cable or building a 2-meter antenna that works better than the normal antenna "rubber ducky" on a handheld transceiver. Let Jeff know what topics you would like covered and volunteer to present a topic. We need some theory and some real world topics.
