April 4, 2018 BOARD MEETING NOTES
MEMBERS PRESENT:
Eugene O'Neill; Jerry Randall; Paul Van Dyck; Veda Moline; John Ellingson; Loren Moline; Bill Knepper.

CALL TO ORDER:
The meeting was called to order by the President at 18:30.

FINANCIAL REPORT:
Veda presented the following account summaries:
CVARS Account Balance:              $8,176.15
BAW FAW Account Balance:        $1,459.89

ASSISTANT TREASURER:
Veda is starting to plan for her retirement later this year and future move out of the area. To ensure that more than one person knows the CVARS financial system, Eugene nominated Bill Knepper as assistant treasurer. The board approved the nomination.

ARRL VEC COORDINATOR:
Dick Morrison, K7KFM, has volunteered to be CVAR's ARRL VEC Coordinator. He will schedule Amateur Radio license testing session and recruit accredited volunteer examiners for those sessions.

Klaus Neubert, AC7MG, the Olympia Amateur Radio Society testing coordinator, has volunteered to help as needed. See: http://oars-ve.duckdns.org/ for details of OARS's testing program.

FIELD DAY 2018:
Eugene has talked with Bob Willey about planning for this year's Field Day activity. Bob asked Eugene to wait until after the Communication Academy since Centralia ARES is getting their communication vans ready to take to the Academy.

REPEATER REPORT:
Eugene and Grant Gienger, KF7ZAO, went to the repeater site earlier this week. The receive antenna was intact, but had a thick coating on ice on it. There may be something that can be painted or sprayed on it to minimize the ice accumulation.

They also tightened a cable connector to the repeater controller and replaced a coaxial cable between the receiver and the duplexer.

ADDITIONAL BUSINESS:
This year's CVARS Swapmeet is scheduled for July 21. Since the July CVARS meeting has been cancelled because it falls on July 4th this year, we'll have to do the planning at the June 6th CVARS meeting. John asked for door prize ideas. The board approved John spending up to $250 to purchase prizes.

John will work with the Southwest Washington Fairgrounds office to get the contract. James will get a certificate of insurance for the event. John asked for cooks to help with the picnic following the event.

Eugene asked Bill to pursue getting 501c3 status for CVARS. Bill will check with Jim Pace about obtaining 501(c)(3) status through the ARRL.

ADJOURNMENT:
The board meeting was adjourned at 18:57.

April 4, 2018 PROGRAM NOTES
