March 7, 2018 BOARD MEETING NOTES
MEMBERS PRESENT:
Eugene O'Neill; Jerry Randall; Paul Van Dyck; Veda Moline; Loren Moline; and Bill Knepper.
Absent was John Ellingson.

CALL TO ORDER:
The meeting was called to order by the President at 18:32.

FINANCIAL REPORT:
Veda presented the following account summaries:
CVARS Account Balance:              $8,319.97
BAW FAW Account Balance:        $1,449.89

BATTERY BACKUP FOR CLUB REPEATER(S):
The need for battery backup for the 2 club repeaters was discussed. There is a generator, maintained by either the county or the state, that supplies all of the radio sites on Baw Faw peak, so having our own backup power is not critical. It was decided to check on the cost of a battery backup system (battery and charger) for the Penning Hill repeater.

BAW FAW REPEATER:
Eugene reported that the repeater restarted by itself, but the receive sensitivity is still poor. When a maintenance team can access the site, they will check the power to the repeater building and the receiver problems.

Eugene has a project to get a set of tire chains for use with Mike Payne's truck to help driving to the site.

PENNING HILL DONATION:
Veda reported that she has found $150 donations to the Fischers on 1/2018 and 11/2016, and $100 on 12/2013. She did not find donations for 2014 or 2015.

ADDITIONAL BUSINESS:
Eugene asked if the board was interested in trying to change the club call sign to K7YZ in memory of Jim Campbell. The board leaned towards staying with the current WA7UHD call. We'll also check on how to change the call sign.

Eugene reminded us to reach out to new people at the meetings. It was suggested to remind everyone at the meeting to mix and not stay "huddled" with people we know.

ADJOURNMENT:
The board meeting was adjourned at 19:00.

March 7, 2018 PROGRAM NOTES
The March 7, 2018 general meeting was called to order by Eugene at 7:30 PM with the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag followed by people introducing themselves. The attendance signin, 2018 Refreshments, and CVARS Sunday 8PM Net Controller sheets were passed around.

The March and April calendars, which are available at http://cvars.org/, were presented.

Lynn Burlingame (N7CFO) took us on a journey through a number of telegraph keys and other telegraphy equipment. His collection at one time numbered over 1500 items.

The meeting adjourned about 8:45 PM. There were 37 people registering their attendance on the attendance sheet.
