The October 4, 2017 general meeting was called to order by Eugene at 7:30 PM with the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag followed by people introducing themselves. The attendance signin and CVARS Sunday 8PM Net Controller sheets were passed around.

The October and November calendars, which are available at http://cvars.org/, were presented.

John Ellingson auctioned 2 ARRL Radio Amateur Radio Handbooks.

Jim Pace, K7CEX, reported on the ARRL.
- Puerto Rico: the American Red Cross asked the ARRL for help establishing emergency communications. The ARRL organized a "Force of 50" volunteers for a 3 week deployment. See the Northwestern Dision Facebook page at
https://www.facebook.com/groups/NwDivARRL/
for news of possible future deployments.
- Let your congressional representatives know the importance of passing the Amateur Radio Parity Act to enable hams to erect antennas.
- The review of the licensing structure is leaning towards providing additional privileges for Technicans.
- Hams need to get on the air. Special events, such as lighthouses, summits on the air, field day and QSO parties are worth being involved with. Every state has a state QSO party. Washington has the Salomon run. The 7 call sign area has a QSO party May 5-6, 2018. See:

The meeting adjourned at 8:45 PM. There were 24 people registering their attendance on the attendance sheet.
