JULY MEETING MINUTES

The July 2, 2014 board meeting was called to order by Vice President Linc Haymaker at 6:50 PM. Present were Linc Haymaker, James Van Ornum, John Ellingson, Reita Campbell, Teresa Haymaker and Don McDougall.

Linc has received the new repeater and controller. He is waiting for connectors before being ready to install the equipment.

John has a $85 invoice from Goebel for the port-a-potty used at Field Day. He will talk with Bob Willey about sharing the cost with Centralia.

Planning continues for the Swapmeet on July 26. A revised Certificate of Insurance has been received from the insurance company and given to Gale Sobolesky of the Southwest Washington Fair. We will start setting up the site at 5:30 PM Friday evening, July 25. John asked that some volunteers be at the Fairgrounds at 7:30 AM Saturday for those vendors and attendees that arrive early. Larry and Rita Pratt have volunteered to sell the tickets at the fairground admission gate again this year. John will place the 3 signs in the vicinity of the fairgrounds entrance, Linc will place the 4 signs in the Centralia area and James will place the 2 signs in the Chehalis area.

James mentioned that he received email from Lynn Burlingame, the Western Washington Section ARRL Affiliated Club Coordinator that the CVARS Special Service Club designation expired June 23, 2005. Lynn included a link to the ARRL web site for updating the CVARS status and James submitted that update on July 1, 2014. Theresa suggested we have a club calendar of annual things that need to be done and that a copy of that calendar be put in the CVARS President’s notebook so that we don’t overlook these things in the future.

The board meeting adjourned at 7:10 PM.

Linc called the general meeting to order at 7:31 PM with the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag followed by people introducing themselves. It was noted that Eugene O’Neill successfully upgraded to Extra class with a new callsign of AF7JM. Congratulations Eugene! The attendance sheets and CVARS Sunday 8PM Net Controller sheet were passed around.

Announcements included:

·         Field Day was a success, with a lot of people contributing time, energy and food. Some of the pictures taken by Teresa Haymaker and Ethan were shown. Linc reported that we worked all USA ARRL sections except for Delaware and Eastern New York.

·         Swapmeet Saturday, July 26. Setup at 5:30 PM, Friday July 25. Be there at 7:30 AM Saturday to manage the crowds who may arrive early. Amateur license testing to begin at 11 AM at the Twin Cities Senior Center next door to the fairgrounds..

John Ellingson presented the program about his latest experiences with quadcopters. He had several videos from flying around his house, Ken Wages home in Nevada, and around the Field Day site.

The meeting adjourned at 9:00 PM after drawing for 50/50. There were 27 people registering their attendance on the attendance sheets.
