APRIL MEETING MINUTES

The April 2, 2014 meeting was cancelled because of a last minute scheduling conflict. Fire District business takes precedence for the use of the training room. Chief Kinder apologized for the short notice that we received.

MAY MEETING MINUTES

The May 7, 2014 board meeting was called to order by President Chuck Verdon at 6:53 PM. Present were Chuck Verdon, Linc Haymaker, James Van Ornum, John Ellingson, Reita Campbell, Teresa Haymaker and Don McDougall.

New receive and transmit crystals have been ordered for the replacement CVARS repeater. They should arrive in 5 to 6 weeks. The board approved purchasing a used antenna for $80. The coaxial feedline needs to be replaced.

CVARS will provide communication support for the Lewis County Historic Bike Ride on May 10. We will meet at Stan Hedwall park at 7 PM and deploy from there.

Planning continues for this year’s Field Day on June 27 to 29. CVARS will pay for the PortaPotty (about $75) and provide a coffee pot. The Centralia ARES group will provide the meat course for the Saturday evening pot luck.

Planning continues for the Swapmeet on July 26.

The CVARS constitution has been posted on the cvars.org web site. Unanswered questions were: 1) is the constitution on file with the Washington State Secretary of State, and 2) does CVARS have 501c status as a non-profit.

The board meeting adjourned at 7:31 PM.

Chuck called the general meeting to order at 7:33 PM with the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag followed by people introducing themselves. The attendance sheets and CVARS Sunday 8PM Net Controller sheet were passed around.

Announcements included:

·         Lewis County Historic Bike Ride Saturday, May 10. Meet at Stan Hedwall park at 7 AM.

·         Field Day Friday to Sunday, June 27 to 29. We will join with the Centralia ARES group and setup at Ft. Borst Park in Centralia.

·         Swapmeet Saturday, July 26.

·         The recently discovered CVARS constitution has been posted on the cvars.org web site at:

James Van Ornum presented the program about Highlights from the 2014 Communication Academy.

The meeting adjourned at 8:50 PM after drawing for 50/50. There were 34 people registering their attendance on the attendance sheets.
