CVARS WA7UHD Sunday Night Net Controller Schedule

 

The CVARS WA7UHD Net meets Sunday at 8 PM local time on 145.430 MHz –offset, 110.9 Hz tone. Net controllers are:

MARCH MEETING MINUTES

 

The March 5, 2014 board meeting was called to order by Secretary James Van Ornum at 6:50 PM. Present were Linc Haymaker, James Van Ornum, John Ellingson, Reita Campbell and Don McDougall.

 

There was no change in the status of the CVARS WA7UHD 2-meter repeater.

 

James reported that the CVARS liability insurance documents for 2014 were received. A certificate of insurance will be requested for the Swapmeet in July.

 

Upcoming CVARS activities include:

·         Lewis County Historic Bike Ride, May 10 (ref: http://cyclelewiscounty.org/lchr/). Bill Harwell, coordinator.

·         Field Day, June 27-29. Chuck Verdon/Bob Willey, coordinators.

·         Swapmeet, July 26. John Ellingson, coordinator.

 

We have received an initial request for a Ham Radio demo as a part of an upcoming Cub/Boy Scout event. additional details are forthcoming.

 

The board meeting adjourned at 7:05 PM.

 

James called the general meeting to order at 7:25 PM with the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag followed by people introducing themselves. The attendance sheets and CVARS Sunday 8PM Net Controller sheet were passed around.

 

Announcements included a review of the March and April Ham calendar events. The role of hams in the Lewis County fire stations was presented along with the availability of the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office ARES Fire Service Ham Radio Unit Volunteer Application. Dick Morrison, K7KFM, is leading this activity.

 

The Board presented to the membership two amendments to the By-Laws. The first to add to Article II (Dues) a new Section 4 reading:
“People passing the Technician Amateur Radio exam shall receive a free, voting or student membership for the remainder of the calendar year”

received unanimous approval from the members in attendance. The second to add to Article I (Membership) a new Section 2 reading:

“Badges are available through CVARS for voting or student members to purchase at cost”

received one dissenting vote from the members in attendance.

 

Linc Haymaker presented “How computers aid in digital communications, PSK-31 demo.” He used the following YouTube video to show how to receive PSK31 easily:

and demonstrated Digipan with the aid of a canned sound file.

The meeting adjourned at 8:45 PM after drawing for 50/50. There were 35 people registering their attendance on the attendance sheets.
