JUNE MEETING MINUTES

James called the board meeting to order at 6:53 PM. Present were James Van Ornum, Barbara Southern, John Ellingson, Jim Campbell, Gary Litteer, and Larry Pratt.

Gary needs a crew to do some antenna work on his 50’ tower and asked if the club’s liability insurance would cover club members doing this type of activity.

John requested that James request a Certificate of Insurance to be submitted to the Southwest Washington Fair for the July Swapmeet (James received an email with the certificate on June 7 and delivered a paper copy to the Fair on June 8). John also noted that the Fair has been paid to rent the facility for the Swapmeet.

James needs to pay Chehalis Parks and Recreation to firm up our reservation for the Virgil R. Lee Community Building to be used for the December Christmas Dinner on December 5 (paid the Chehalis Parks and Recreation $40 on June 7).

Gary volunteered to coordinate the club’s license training activity. Dick Morrison is out of the country for two years.

James was asked to check on renting a portable toilet for use during Field Day (rented from Goebel Septic Tank Service – they also service the units at Borst Park athletic fields – for $75 for Field Day weekend).

The board meeting was closed at 7:10 PM.

James called the general meeting to order at 7:30 PM with the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag followed by people introducing themselves. The attendance sheets and CVARS Sunday 8PM Net Controller sheet were passed around. We welcomed first time attendees Richard Miles (K7RNZ) and his daughter Karla Miles (N7TKV).

Announcements started with a review of the 2012 Lewis County Historical Bike Ride on May 12 and our support of the activity. We used packet radio and the WinLink2000 mail system to handle much of the traffic on the status of the bike riders.

We talked about SEA-PAC 2012 which was held the weekend before the June CVARS meeting.

We reviewed the 2012 calendar, which can be viewed on the cvars.org web site home page, highlighting events in June (Field Day June 22-24) and July (Swapmeet July 28).

Bob Willey and Chuck Verdon presented plans for this year’s Field Day June 22 to 24 at Borst Park.

John Ellingson talked about plans for this year’s Swapmeet July 28. More details will be discussed during the July CVARS meeting.

James showed some videos from the Dayton 2012 Hamvention, including a new 1500 watt power amplifier, an antenna rotator and some new QRP and antenna products from MFJ.

The meeting was adjourned at 8:20 PM. There were 21 people attending.
