CHEHALlS VALLEY AMATEUR RADIO SOCIETY
The purpose of this society shall be a non-profit organization to promote interest in amateur radio and to provide fellowship through participation in meetings, emergency communications and public service projects.
Section 1. Membership in this society shall be open to licensed radio amateurs of all classes and to others displaying a genuine interest in amateur radio.
Section 2. Only licensed members are eligible to vote.
Section 1. The officers of the Society shall be: President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, and 4 Directors who shall perform those duties as defined in Article IV of the Constitution.
Section 2. The President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer shall be elected for a term of one year by majority ballot of the members present at the December meeting. The Directors shall be elected for a 2 year term with 2 being elected each year by majority ballot of the members present at the December meeting. Officers will serve from January through December.
Section 3. Only licensed members may hold office.
Section 4. Vacancies occurring between elections shall be filled by special election at the first regular meeting following the occurrence of the vacancy. Elections shall be by majority vote of the members present. Such elected officers shall be seated immediately.
Section 5. Any officer missing three consecutive meetings without prior notification may be removed from office and said office shall be filled by special election at the next regular meeting..
Duties of Officers:
Section 1. The President shall preside at all regular and special meetings and make appointments to committees. He shall preside at all Officers meetings.
Section 2. The Vice-President shall perform all duties of the President in the event the President is absent.
Section 3. The Secretary shall keep the minutes of the meetings and be responsible for maintaining files and correspondence required by the Society.
Section 4. The Treasurer shall maintain current and accurate records of all Society funds and issue membership cards.
Section 5. The Directors shall keep themselves informed as to the conditions and activities of the Society and the desires of the members. They shall recommend changes in the Constitution and Bylaws.
Committees and Duties:
Section 1. There shall be four standing committees and such ad hoc committees as the President shall deem necessary.
Section 2. Interference Committee shall investigate complaints of possible amateur radio interference and make every effort to solve the problem.
Section 3. Club Station Committee shall be responsible for the operation and maintenance of the Society’s station, W7UHD. It shall be responsible for the cleanliness and maintenance of the club room and club property. It shall be responsible for the operation and maintenance of the club library.
Section 4. Public Relations Committee shall provide publicity on regular and special activities of the Society. It shall provide the club newsletter.
Section 5. Training Committee shall arrange for instructors and locations for code and theory classes for all levels of amateur radio competency.
Section 1. Meetings shall be held at a time and place as specified in the By-Laws.
Section 2. “Robert’s Rules of Order-Revised” shall be used as a guide in the proceedings of all meetings.
Section 1. The Constitution may be amended by the submission of the proposed amendment in writing to the Officers. The Officers will review the proposal as to acceptability of form and validity at their next regular meeting.
Section 2. The proposed amendment will then be submitted to the next regular general meeting without action by the membership at this meeting.
Section 3. Written notice of the proposed amendment will be sent to each member at least seven(7) days prior to the next regular meeting.
.Section 4. A two-thirds majority of the eligible membership will be required to adopt an amendment. Absentee ballots from eligible members will be accepted if received prior to the meeting of action on the proposal.
